And They're Off to Portugal!

My parents were called to the Lisbon, Portugal mission for two years, and we went to Twin for their farewell and a nice luncheon with family and friends after. I finally got to see and hold my first great niece, Mya. We all loved on her, and I soaked in as many baby snuggles as I could. She was quite a fussy baby, but I had the magic touch and great swinging squat motion to keep her pretty happy.

She loved me! No I'm not baby hungry, and No I'm not having any more.

The kids had a lot of fun playing with their cousins, and meeting new cousins that made it out!
3 out of 4 sisters, not too bad!
A smile from everyone! A true miracle.
Mom, Dad, and siblings, minus one brother and one sister.
All of our family that was able to make it -- minus two siblings families, a husband, and a missionary. Good looking family!
I'm sure they will have a wonderful time, filled with incredible experiences, and be able to bless many lives in Portugal! Love you Elder and Sister Egbert! We'll miss you!

Lucas is 4!

Time is just flying by with this one! I can't believe Lucas "Cupcake" Wight is 4! (His self-given nickname.) This kid is always finding ways to make us smile and laugh, and is amazing at coming up with unexpected announcements. Example: Brad left some fertilizer in the garage overnight, and we encountered the absolute worst smelling garage of all time, and Lucas exclaimed "It smells like giraffe poo!!!" It was hilarious, and I have no idea how giraffe came to mind!

We threw in some of his favorite things for his birthday -- at least 8 escalator rides at the mall, balloons, Burger King, goodies, hide'n'seek, PJ Masks, presents, and cake.
His aunt Angela had a package sent to him with a Buzz-light year jetpack. He was so excited and wore it most of the day, flying around the house.

He blew out all four candles on his first try! I'm glad to see we're moving on from the spit-blowing, to mainly air!

And luckily, we had a Buzz Lightyear costume in our dress-ups, and his day was complete. Oh, and he has a great stink-eye we're hoping he'll grow out of, but most "outsider" people receive that look if they try to communicate with him. He's definitely got some attitude to spare, but we love this little buzz of ours and our family is forever better and funnier with you in it! Love our Lucas-Bucas!

July

Swimming around at Roaring Springs.

We stayed here in Meridian to watch the Fireworks for Independence Day. It was awesome! They know how to do a finale! We played skip-bo to pass the time until it was dark. All but Lucas who enjoyed his freedom roaming around the inside of  van.

Another season of basketball down for Emma and Jacob. Skills are improving, and they're getting more confident with the ball.
Emma's starting to dribble pretty well, can switch between her hands, and has started trying to fake people out on the direction she's going. They each made some baskets this year... but we have a ways to go on our aim!

Check out this girl Emma was assigned to guard! She had at least a foot's height above her -- they switched it within a few minutes after realizing the mismatch.

Lucas has warmed up a lot in his library silly-song and dance class. He'll talk to the teacher now, and has started to request the song "Tooty-tah." He's really fun to watch now!

He likes his picture taken.. all the time...
Brad got me an electric hedger --AMAZING-- and I attacked our dogwoods in the back. I brought the kids out to help clean up the abundance of leaves and branches strewn about -- I may have gone overboard with the new power I now held in my hands... but we found a couple insects to observe. I'm thinking baby katydids/cicada? I do love when yard work turns into fun experiences for these young ones! And they were troopers sticking with me until all the leaves were gathered up... and there were a lot.
