Ice and Art

One of Emma's friends, Abby, is taking ice-skating lessons, and on their last week, they could invite four friends for a free little ice-skating lesson and skate. It was Emma's first time, and she was really excited, until she got out there and fell.
Good thing they had these scooters, or quite a few of the kids would have given up. Once she had the scooter, she was back to having fun again.

I love when kids start drawing little people! This is Jake's picture of our family. We also try to make it to the library art class. I think it's so fun that they do one (along with pre-school story time, that we try to make it to also). They've done a lot of different crafts, painting, paper bag puppets, marble-paint rolling, etc. This time they were exploring with play-doh and all the stuff you could do to it, and put in it. Jake likes putting rocks in his -- he really looks forward to his "library school class."

At the end of the month, the Wight brothers had a get-together in Twin for a few days. Jeff stayed with us one night, and for the first time in a couple months, Lucas let someone hold him without crying. He's always been such a mellow, good baby -- just entering that stranger phase. What's even better, Jake wasn't being shy/hiding by me or Brad. He was over showing Jeff all his Avengers and toys. Either Jeff's really special and good with kids, or my kids are getting over their "phases". As much as I like Jeff, I'm hoping it's the latter... Either way, it was nice to have him over for a visit :).

Happy Birthday Brad!

Anyone who knows Brad knows he hates his birthdays. We usually keep the birthdays low-key, with just enough to let him know we love him super-duper much, without bringing too much attention to it being his birthday. We went out to Red Lobster -- one of our favorites right now, and the kids helped him pick out a double layer chocolate cake.
They all needed a turn to blow out the candles.

We got him a few gifts, and left little love notes around the house for him to find when he came home from work.

A few of the other notes:
I just can't wipe you out of my mind! -- toilet paper
You're hot! -- oven
We'd be "foos" to let you go! -- Foosball table
Trying to "compute" how much we love you is like trying to count the stars! -- computer
The sound of you coming home is music to our ears! -- Symphony chocolate bar
You turn me on! -- light switch
etc....
I had a few notes up with the Avenger super hero things, and Emma wrote on one of the hearts "Superheeros are not reel but Dad's are superheeros." Such a sweet little girl who loves her dad so much! Happy Birthday to our favorite 35 year old! We love you!

Two Loves

I was a little late introducing crackers to him, but Lucas loves his graham crackers! Whenever I try to give him veggies, he puckers his lips tight, and won't let anything in. The graham crackers bring pure joy. (I have learned to trick him into his veggies by putting his sippy cup by his mouth, and when he opens, I shove a spoonful in. He he he).

He also LOVES his toes. Check out that flexibility! I usually have socks on him, but any chance he gets, he pulls them off and puts his toes right in his mouth. I think he's continually trying to see how many digits he can get in at once.

Blurry Valentine and Duck Love

Kids waking up to balloons and a bag of donuts each. "Donut you know how much we love you!?!" Happy Valentine's Day kidlets.

We didn't know when the cold weather would return, so we jumped at the opportunity to return to the park, and brought Brad with us. At the last second, I remembered to bring some bread for the ducks. The kids loved throwing food to them, and I was so proud of Emma sharing her bread with another kid so she could feed the ducks too! Lucky for passerby's, I had a half loaf of bread that was about to go bad, and we shared a lot of it and made a lot of little kids happy! We pass this park a lot as we live pretty close to it, and Jake is always wanting to go back and feed the ducks. I have a feeling a large portion of our summer will be spent here.

Finally at the Park again!

I am loving this unseasonably warm February! Finally getting out to the park again!
This is Jake's favorite part of Settler's Park. I call it the caterpillar. Each segment rocks back and forth, and Jake thought it was so fun trying to balance!

Emma was showing off her skills shimmying up the pole to the top, and of course within 5 minutes, she was running around holding hands with a complete stranger. This girl has the ability to make friends everywhere. I love it.    Feb 13, 2015.

Lucas and Jake

Lucas loves to squeal, scream, and growl at the other kids to make sure he gets their attention -- as if he doesn't get enough. He'll see them from across the room and just start going crazy. He was laughing with Jake until I grabbed the camera, then he just started doing his squeal.

Smiles All Around

Grandpa Bill and Grandma Judy stopped by for a couple hours while Bill had a meeting here in Meridian and brought us some delicious Krispy Kreme donuts. MMMmmm.
Emma was disappointed they had to leave before she came home from school, but was pretty thrilled when she saw they left her a couple birthday surprises! Two fuzzy animals and a chocolate pie -- one of her absolute favorite treats. Whenever she sees Grandma and Grandpa -- she always looks forward to the chocolate pie.

Jake was happy to have Grandma around for a couple hours, and Lucas kept his eye on her making sure she wasn't going to try anything ;). He's in his stranger phase. Thanks for the visit and treats!
