Spring Break Day 1 & 2

For Spring Break this year, we decided to go on our first long road trip all the way to the Grand Canyon. I've always wanted to see it, and the kids were excited when I mentioned it, so away we went! We began on April Fool's Day -- which was a bad idea... After having SO much fun at the Provo Rec. Center swimming -- Emma stopped swimming because her stomach was hurting. Less than an hour later, she was throwing up -- in the van-- with food poisoning from Burger King! We thought about turning right around and driving home in the morning, thinking it was the flu, but she woke up fine, and everyone else was good. A not so fun April Fool's for us. And Jake forgot to pack any jammies. Luckily, the rest of the trip continued fabulously.

Day 2, we made it to Page, Arizona. It was a very pretty, scenic drive. Lots of different kinds of mountains.

We made a stop at the Glenn Canyon Dam Visitor's Center, and walked on the bridge in front of the dam. It was VERY high.
All my dino's by the dinosaur prints they had there.
After checking in at the hotel, we walked over to explore the canyon's edge. The best dam view!
The ripples in the rocks were pretty cool! They were all over the canyon's edge.

We ate Nemo's Fish and Chips -- and they were delicious! Finished the night off swimming at the hotel -- which the kids think is the best part.... Silly kids, we can do that here in Meridian!

Prison Party of 5

Jake really wanted to check out the Old Penitentiary -- so here we are! I'm a little concerned that Lucas can pull the perfect thug picture so easily...

We had come here years ago, when Emma was a toddler. It was a bit more uncomfortable this time with two readers asking what some of the listed crimes were... And then the solitary confinement cells and hanging room. Yikes!
We enjoyed walking around the WW2 museum there and checking out all the weaponry.

 Bunch of rebels...
I think we sufficiently scared the kids of prison.

March

Brad's got a friend that is working on improving his photography, and asked if he could come practice on us. I grabbed some selfie's with the kids while he was setting up. Cute kids!

Lucas had a graduation from his library Kindergarten All-stars program.
He has loved this class, and calls it his "school". He was so excited that they gave him a shirt, and he wears it any chance he gets. This kid and the faces he pulls when a camera comes out... LOL.
Our first day of Spring break was super windy, so it was a perfect day to fly kites! All the kids were able to get them up and flying!

Slim Sledding

There was very little snow for us in Meridian this winter, but we made the best with what we had. Brad couldn't make it, as we went in the middle of a work day before the snow had a chance to melt completely. We tried out Kleiner Park's sledding hill, which wasn't spectacular, but the kids had fun -- even though they were partly just sledding on grass...

I took Luke down the hill with me where the bigger kids were sledding, and he didn't appreciate the speed much at all, so he and I stuck to the smaller end of the hill, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

February Fun

Another season of basketball done! They both made some baskets and improved their ball handling skills, defense, and had a lot of fun!
The kids loved holding and petting Grandpa Bill's cat Furball. They're trying to convince me again on a cat. Not gonna happen, but love that they can get a cat fix elsewhere!

We got Brad another toy for his birthday. We started with aiming at the kids' Valentine balloons at the end of the hallway, and then moved on to a few friendly fires on each other. Always grateful for another year with this awesome husband/father in our family -- even if he doesn't like celebrating birthdays.
It was fire safety day at Luke's library group, so the firefighters came and showed the kids their fire suits and fire truck. Luke got in for a picture, but spent the rest of the time finding slushy snow piles and puddles to splash in.
